CBAT Guide
Common CBAT preparation mistakes
Good preparation is not simply about doing as many practice questions as possible. Avoiding a few common mistakes can make your training far more productive.
Mistake 1
Leaving preparation until the last minute
Aptitude skills are difficult to develop overnight. Starting earlier gives you time to identify weaknesses and improve gradually.
Mistake 2
Only practising your strongest areas
It is tempting to repeat tasks you already enjoy. Your preparation time is usually better spent addressing areas where your performance is weakest.
Mistake 3
Prioritising speed too early
Working quickly is useful only when your method is reliable. Learn how to solve the task correctly before trying to dramatically increase your pace.
Mistake 4
Ignoring mistakes
Simply completing large numbers of questions does not guarantee improvement. Analyse errors so you understand what caused them.
Mistake 5
Trying to memorise a practice test
The goal should be to improve transferable skills, not memorise particular questions or expect the real assessment to look identical to your preparation material.
Mistake 6
Practising while exhausted
Low-quality practice can reinforce poor habits. Focused sessions with proper breaks are generally more useful than continuing when your concentration has disappeared.
